Pressure Fit vs. Wall-Mounted - A Safety-Critical Difference

There are two mounting systems available, and the difference between them is not a preference - it is a safety distinction. Pressure-fit gates use tension against the door frame to stay in position, requiring no drilling. They are easy to install, fully removable, and the right choice for doorways and the bottom of stairs.

They must not be used at the top of the stairs. The force of a child falling against a pressure-fit gate at the top of a staircase can dislodge it - which is precisely the outcome the gate was supposed to prevent.

Wall-mounted gates are fixed to the wall or frame with screws. They require installation but provide a rigid, secure barrier that cannot be pushed out of position by a fall. At the top of stairs, only a wall-mounted gate is appropriate. This is not a recommendation - it is a safety requirement.

Wider Openings and Flexible Gate Systems

Standard baby gates are designed for standard doorway widths. Open-plan homes, converted spaces, and non-standard frames often need something more adaptable.
