His work centred on a simple observation: newborns settle in response to the conditions they knew before birth, which is to say gentle motion and constant sound rather than silence and stillness. Parents have always known this instinctively, which is why so many of us end up driving around the block at midnight. The SNOO is that idea built into a bassinet, so the rocking and the shushing happen without a parent having to supply them.

A Bassinet That Responds Rather Than Waits

What separates the SNOO from every other bassinet is that it listens. When your baby stirs, it responds with motion and white noise, stepping the response up or down depending on what's happening, and settling back when they do. If they keep crying, it stops and lets you know, because it isn't there to override you.
