First tastes are tiny, and freezing a full meal at that stage means throwing most of it away. Small portioned trays suit those early weeks, letting you defrost a spoonful or two at a time. As appetite picks up, you simply defrost two or three portions instead of one, which is why trays with smaller compartments tend to stay useful longer than large single tubs.

Storing Breast Milk and Expressed Feeds

Check that lids seal well enough to keep freezer odours out, because breast milk in particular picks up whatever else is in there. Silicone and PPSU both handle the swing from freezer to warm water without cracking, and both wash easily. 

Confirm what's dishwasher- and steriliser-safe before you buy a set, since that decides how much of your evening this costs you. Replacement seals sold separately are a good sign, because seals perish long before the containers do.
