Fed is Best – Bottle Feeding Non-Negotiables

For many mums, breastfeeding simply isn’t the right fit—and that’s okay. Whether it’s due to medical reasons, supply issues, lifestyle choices, or simply because bottle-feeding works best for you and your baby, we want you to know: fed is best.

At Baby Village, we support every feeding journey. Here’s what you need to make bottle-feeding smooth, stress-free, and comfortable for both you and your little one:

Baby Bottles

A reliable bottle designed for a natural feeding experience can help babies transition easily and feed comfortably. While many parents use bottles for mixed feeding, some choose to use them straight from birth — whether for convenience, to share feeding duties, or to support specific feeding needs. A well-designed bottle can often mimic the natural feel and movement of breastfeeding, helping babies feed with ease and comfort.

If one bottle doesn’t work for your baby, don’t worry — every baby is different, and there are many great brands offering bottles with unique teat shapes and flow rates. Some popular options include: Hegen, Tommee Tippee, Suavinex, Pigeon and more!

Key Benefits:

Bottle Cleaning

Clean bottles and parts are essential for keeping your baby safe and healthy by preventing the build-up of harmful bacteria and milk residue.

How Often Should You Clean?
Bottles, teats, and any feeding accessories should be washed thoroughly after every use — even if they’ve only been used for water. Milk proteins and sugars can leave invisible residue where bacteria thrive, so a full clean before each feed is the safest option.

Best Drying Practices
After washing, air-dry all items on a clean drying rack or mat. Avoid drying with a tea towel, as this can transfer lint or bacteria onto freshly cleaned bottles. Letting bottles dry naturally in a well-ventilated space reduces the risk of recontamination. If you need to store them before use, make sure they’re completely dry to prevent moisture-loving germs from multiplying.

Key Benefits:

    • All-in-one cleaning set with bottle brush, straw brush, and detail cleaner
    • Comfortable non-slip handle and replaceable heads

    • Compact, portable cleaning set for travel or day trips
    • Includes brushes and drying mat in a neat travel case

Sterilisers

Sterilising protects your baby from harmful bacteria, especially in those early months when your little one’s immune system is still developing and they’re more susceptible to infections and tummy upsets.

How Often Should You Sterilise?
In the first 12 months, it’s recommended to sterilise all feeding equipment — bottles, teats, breast pump parts — after every single use. This ensures any lingering bacteria from milk residue are eliminated, giving you peace of mind that every feed starts fresh and safe.

After Sterilising – Best Practice Storage
Once the sterilisation cycle is complete, keep bottles inside the closed steriliser until you’re ready to use them. If your steriliser doesn’t have a storage function, place them in a clean, lidded container or seal them in a sterile bag. Avoid leaving sterilised bottles out in the open air for long periods, as airborne bacteria can quickly settle on them. If stored correctly, sterilised bottles typically remain safe for up to 24 hours.

Key Benefits:

    • Kills 99.9% of germs using natural steam
    • Dries bottles in minutes, ready to use
    • Holds up to 6 bottles at once

Why It’s BV Approved – Julien, Digital Performance Manager:

Julien says it’s “fast, efficient, and reliable,” and that it “takes the worry out of sterilising.”

Feeding Pillows

A supportive pillow makes feeding sessions more comfortable and helps reduce strain on your neck and shoulders.

Because feeding can happen many times a day, keeping your pillow clean is important for both you and your baby’s comfort. We recommend washing the cover every 1–2 weeks, or sooner if there are spills or spit-ups. The covers are machine-washable: just use a gentle cycle with mild detergent, then air-dry to help preserve the fabric and shape. While you can pat it dry with a clean tea towel to speed things up, tumble drying isn’t advised as it may shrink or damage the material. Clean, fresh covers help keep your feeding space hygienic, soft, and welcoming for every cuddle and feed.

    • Compact, portable and stylish breastfeeding pillow
    • Ergonomic shape for proper support and comfort
    • Removable, machine-washable cover
