We’ve reviewed some of Oricom's best Baby Monitors to help you make the right decision for your new baby's nursery! The Oricom SC530 Digital Audio Baby Monitor is packed with features and the Oricom SC715 Digital Video Baby Monitor is the perfect entry level.

As a new parent, a baby monitor is probably on your checklist, so we’re going to answer some frequently asked questions and help you with that decision-making process. There’s a few questions you should ask yourself before you dive into purchasing a baby monitor and those come down to capability, longevity, and portability of the monitor.

In terms of capability, you should think about what type of use you’re looking for; audio, video, on-body monitoring, or a combination. You should also consider whether you want a closed-loop network or do you want to setup a wi-fi network with access from just about anywhere.

With regard to longevity, you should consider your future; will you look to grow your family and therefore maybe want to add an additional camera down the track? And, will you continue using this as your baby transitions into a toddler, and you're going to want to follow them around their room?  

With portability, you want to think about where your monitor is getting set up, how far is your nursery away from where you’re going to be monitoring your baby - are you going to want to monitor your baby just at home, or while you're out as well - if so, you will need to consider a wifi solution.

The SC715 also features baby friendly night vision, parent talk back, 5 soothing lullabies, digital volume control and the option to add up to four camera units to the system.

The SC530 is a cost-effective, yet feature-rich entry-level digital audio baby monitor. It features a starry-night light show and also includes 18 lullabies and white noises. For those who find video to be intrusive, this audio-only monitor is a great option.
